M22759/18-22-9 is a single-conductor airframe and hook-up wire qualified to the M22759/18 military specification sheet (SAE AS22759 family). The /18 construction pairs a tin-plated copper conductor with thin-wall extruded ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) insulation, rated at 600 V and 150 °C. The thin-wall ETFE jacket is chosen for aerospace wiring where light weight, tight diameter tolerance, mechanical toughness and chemical resistance are required. In the part number, ‘-22’ designates a 22 AWG conductor — built as 19 strands of 34 AWG tinned copper per distributor construction data — and the final ‘-9’ is the colour code for white insulation to the MIL-STD-104 colour system. For the 22 AWG size, distributor data lists a nominal conductor diameter of 0.038 in with a finished insulation diameter of 0.049-0.053 in.
