About the Stanley Rubber Mallet Wood Handle
The Stanley Rubber Mallet technical component is a striking tool with a rubber head fitted to a wooden handle. A rubber mallet is used where a workpiece has to be struck to seat, align or free it without the marking, denting or burring a steel hammer face would cause: the rubber head deforms on impact, spreading the blow over a larger contact area and over a longer contact time. The wooden handle absorbs a proportion of the shock returned through the tool, which is why timber is still specified for mallets used repeatedly by hand. Typical applications
Rubber mallets are used to seat panels, tiles, bushes and dowels, to tap assemblies into alignment, to close press-fit joints on soft or coated components, and to free parts that have bedded in — all without damaging finished faces. On plated, painted or anodised assemblies a rubber head is frequently specified in place of a steel one for exactly this reason, and it is also the safer choice where a struck component could shed hard fragments.
