The Stahlwille 40082222 is the largest combination spanner in this group, with a 22 mm open jaw and a 22 mm ring on a 260 mm shank. At this size the shank section does real work: the double-T profile gives bending strength across the length of the handle while keeping the spanner lighter than a solid bar of the same stiffness would be. Spanners in the Stahlwille OPEN-BOX 13 series are drop-forged from chrome alloy steel, hardened and oil-quenched, chrome-plated, and built with a 15° jaw angle, a ring end cranked 15° carrying the bi-hex AS-Drive profile, a reinforced jaw-to-shank transition and a double-T shank section. Material is chrome alloy steel with a chrome-plated finish. The reinforced transition between jaw and shank matters most on the larger sizes, because that junction is where a spanner opens up under load and starts to slip on the fastener.
