The Stahlwille 40080808 is the 8 mm size, with matching 8 mm open jaw and ring on a 115 mm shank. Spanners in the Stahlwille OPEN-BOX 13 series are drop-forged from chrome alloy steel, hardened and oil-quenched, chrome-plated, and built with a 15° jaw angle, a ring end cranked 15° carrying the bi-hex AS-Drive profile, a reinforced jaw-to-shank transition and a double-T shank section. On this spanner the bi-hex AS-Drive ring is worth singling out: a twelve-point ring can be re-seated every 30° instead of every 60°, which is often the difference between being able to turn a fastener at all and having to dismantle something else to gain swing. The AS-Drive geometry moves the contact away from the hexagon corners onto the flats, reducing the chance of rounding heads that have already been worked on.
