An adhesive transfer tape is a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive supplied on a release liner with no carrier film, so only the adhesive transfers to the part and the bond line stays as thin as the adhesive itself. This 3M Transfer Tape industrial adhesive is catalogued as F9473PC, clear, 12 mm wide on a 55 m roll. The clear appearance is the reason transfer tapes are used where the joint may be seen through a translucent part or where a coloured bond line would show at an edge. At 12 mm the roll is suited to narrow lands and small parts, and the 55 m length is longer than the 33 m rolls common in the foam-tape ranges, which reduces roll changes in repetitive laminating work. Typical applications
A 12 mm clear transfer tape is used for narrow bonding lands on nameplates, membrane switches, gaskets, foam strips and light trim, where a thin, near-invisible bond line is wanted. Because no carrier is left in the joint, it is also used to laminate flexible parts that must stay conformable. The narrow width lends itself to hand application along small edges rather than full-face lamination.
