About the 3M VHB 4991F Grey Foam Tape
VHB foam tapes bond through an acrylic foam core coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive on both faces, forming a continuous joint in place of point fixings. What sets this 3M VHB 4991F industrial adhesive apart within the range is its thickness: at 2.3 mm the core is substantially thicker than the thin grades used for flush laminating, so the tape can take up gaps and surface irregularity between two parts that would otherwise need a shim or a bead of sealant. The extra thickness also gives the joint more room to absorb differential movement between the bonded parts. It is supplied grey, 19 mm wide, on a 5.5 m roll — a short roll length that reflects how much material a thick foam tape occupies compared with a thin one. Quote the 4991F reference in full when reordering, as thickness alone does not identify the grade.

Typical applications
