About the SBS-60 Battery
The EnerSys PowerSafe SBS 60 is a 12 V, six-cell valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) monobloc from the PowerSafe SBS standby range. The 60 in the model name is a range designator rather than an amp-hour figure: EnerSys rates the SBS 60 at 51 Ah at the 8-hour rate to 1.75 V per cell, and 51 Ah at the 10-hour rate to 1.80 V per cell. Construction uses thin plate pure lead (TPPL) positive grids with absorbent glass mat separators holding the electrolyte, and a flame-retardant UL94 V-0 container and cover. EnerSys quotes greater than ten years’ life expectancy in float service at 25 °C, an operating range of −40 °C to 50 °C with 20–30 °C recommended, and compliance with Telcordia SR-4228 NEBS criteria. The block measures 220 × 121 × 261 mm, weighs 18.5 kg and uses M6 male terminals.

Typical applications
PowerSafe SBS blocks provide standby power for telecommunications and cable network sites, control and signalling systems, emergency lighting, power generation and offshore installations. The TPPL construction gives high-rate discharge capability and heat tolerance in a compact footprint, which suits shelter, cabinet and vehicle-mounted equipment on defence and infrastructure programmes. Approval as non-hazardous cargo for ground, sea and air transport also makes the range practical for deployable systems.
