Description
Weller 7874B Manual ESD-Safe Desoldering Pump — BOLTON SKU 56710.
About the Weller 7874B Manual ESD-Safe Desoldering Soldering
The Weller 7874B Manual soldering equipment item is a hand-operated desoldering pump, part number 7874B. A desoldering pump clears molten solder from a joint by vacuum: the plunger is pressed down and locked, the nozzle is brought to the joint while the solder is still liquid, and the release lets the plunger travel back, drawing the solder up into the barrel. The barrel is emptied by pressing the plunger down again, and the accumulated solder is discharged. This example is described as ESD-safe, meaning the body materials are selected so that the tool does not build up and discharge static onto the assembly being worked on — the reason a plain moulded pump is not acceptable near static-sensitive devices. Being manual, it needs no power supply or air line, and the only consumables are replacement nozzles and seals. Nozzle size, stroke and spare-part references should be confirmed against the Weller datasheet at enquiry.

Typical applications
A manual pump is the basic tool for removing through-hole components and clearing plated holes during board repair, modification and component recovery. The ESD-safe construction is what makes it usable on populated assemblies carrying CMOS logic, RF front ends and other static-sensitive parts, where an ordinary pump would be excluded by the workstation’s ESD control programme. It is also the practical option for field and flight-line repair work where a powered desoldering station cannot be taken to the job.
