About the Wiha 36987 Ball End Hex L-Key
The Wiha 36987 Ball technical component reference covers a nine-piece hex L-key set in metric sizes, supplied in the long-arm pattern with a ball end. An L-key is a hexagonal bar bent to a right angle so that either arm can serve as the handle: gripping the long arm and turning with the short one gives torque, while gripping the short arm and turning with the long one gives reach and speed. The ball end machined on one arm lets the key engage a socket-head screw at an angle instead of square on, so a fastener can be turned where the key cannot be lined up with the axis of the screw — at the cost of reduced contact area, which is why final tightening is normally done with the plain end. Long-arm keys extend that reach further again.
