Description

1156-4-GW24 Boot, 90, shrinks to 22.4mm on the backshell and 8.4mm onto the wire loom — BOLTON SKU 53258.

About the 1156-4-GW24 Backshell

The 1156-4-GW24 is a heat-shrinkable moulded boot with a 90-degree (right-angle) profile, used at the transition between a connector backshell and the wire bundle it terminates. Distributor listings identify this part number as a HellermannTyton right-angle heat-shrink boot with an as-supplied inner diameter of approximately 36 mm at the large end. According to the product designation, the boot recovers to approximately 22.4 mm over the backshell termination area and to approximately 8.4 mm onto the wire loom, giving a stepped seal from the connector rear accessory down to the harness. Moulded boots of this type are shaped parts made from heat-recoverable polymer; unlike plain heat-shrink tubing, the moulded geometry follows the contour of the transition, providing mechanical protection, strain relief and environmental coverage at harness breakouts and connector rear ends.

Key specifications

Type Heat-shrinkable moulded boot, 90° (right-angle) profile
Part number 1156-4-GW24
As-supplied inner diameter (large end) Approx. 36 mm (distributor listing)
Recovered diameter, backshell end Approx. 22.4 mm (per product designation)
Recovered diameter, wire-loom end Approx. 8.4 mm (per product designation)

Typical applications

Right-angle heat-shrink boots are used in aerospace and defence wiring harnesses wherever a cable must exit a connector at 90 degrees, including avionics bays, airframe looms and UAV integrations with tight routing envelopes. They are equally common in MRO harness repair and overhaul work where damaged boots are replaced during connector servicing.
