About the M83519/1-2 Heat Shrink Tubing
A SolderSleeve shield terminator is a single-piece heat-shrinkable device that solders, insulates and environmentally seals a cable braid shield termination in one heating operation. S01-02-R is the Raychem catalogue number for the part qualified to SAE-AS83519, the specification formerly issued as MIL-S-83519, under slash sheet /1. The sleeve body is a transparent crosslinked polyvinylidene fluoride tubing so the completed solder joint remains visible for inspection, and it carries a preformed solder ring together with a thermochromic temperature indicator that changes colour once the correct installation temperature has been reached — a useful aid for both the installer and the inspector. Devices in this range are intended for data-bus, RF and shielded cables in applications where the operating temperature does not exceed 150 degrees Celsius, and terminate bare or tin-plated copper shields on cable whose insulation is rated at least +85 degrees Celsius. The 3.68 mm figure is the sleeve size designator.

Typical applications
Solder sleeves are standard practice for grounding braid shields in aerospace and defence harnesses, data-bus and RF cable runs, avionics rack looms and UAV payload wiring.
