Overview
The Professional Grade Magnetometer RM3100 is Drotek’s operational module carrying the PNI RM3100 three-axis geomagnetic sensor. The sensor uses PNI’s proprietary magneto-inductive technology, in which the sensing coils change inductance with the surrounding magnetic field, giving Drotek’s stated resolution of 10 nT, no hysteresis and, in the manufacturer’s words, over ten times the resolution and over twenty times lower noise than the leading Hall-effect sensor. Drotek describes the module as usable without temperature calibration and intends it as an external compass that can be positioned away from motor coils and metal parts to give clean heading and orientation data.
