About the 1658670-1 D-Sub Pin Contact, Crimp 22-28 AWG
The 1658670-1 is a TE Connectivity (AMP) crimp pin contact from the AMPLIMITE HDP-22 series of high-density D-subminiature connectors. It is a size 22 male (pin) contact of stamped-and-formed construction, made from brass with gold plating over nickel in the contact area, and accepts wire in the 28 to 22 AWG range. The contact is crimped to the prepared wire and then snap-locked into the rear of a compatible AMPLIMITE HD-22 connector housing, allowing individual circuits to be assembled, inspected and replaced without soldering. Distributor data lists recommended TE application tooling for crimping and for contact insertion/extraction. Crimp snap-in termination is the standard approach for building high-density D-sub harness assemblies where repeatable, gas-tight terminations are required across production volumes.
