The C0805C104J5RAC is a KEMET surface-mount multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) of 0.1 microfarad — 100 nanofarads — rated at 50 volts DC in the EIA 0805 case size (2012 metric). The dielectric is X7R, a Class II ceramic whose EIA code defines its capacitance stability over the temperature range -55 °C to +125 °C. The J character in the part number denotes the ±5% capacitance tolerance, which distinguishes this variant from the otherwise identical K-suffix part at ±10%. X7R is the usual compromise dielectric for decoupling and bypass duty: it offers far higher volumetric efficiency than C0G/NP0 while holding capacitance considerably better than Y5V across temperature. As with all Class II ceramics, effective capacitance falls with applied DC bias and the part exhibits ageing, so designers derate accordingly. The capacitor is supplied on tape and reel for automated placement.
