The D-436 series designates environmentally sealed in-line crimp splices, in which an insulating sleeve is recovered over the crimped barrel so the joint is closed against moisture ingress. Splices of this family join conductors inside aerospace and defence harnesses where an open butt splice would not be acceptable.
