About the Akfix 705 High Strength Fast Cure
Akfix 705 is a two-part fast bonding system rather than a single adhesive. The akfix-705 adhesive high str fast cure set pairs a cyanoacrylate adhesive with an aerosol activator, or accelerator, which is sprayed onto one face of the joint. The activator has two roles: it shortens the time to fixture, and on porous or uneven substrates it seals the surface so that the cyanoacrylate is not absorbed away from the bond line before it can cure, which is the usual cause of weak joints on materials such as MDF and chipboard. The adhesive is supplied at a viscosity high enough that it will not run or slump when applied to vertical surfaces. The system is used on wood, MDF and chipboard, rubber, leather and most plastics, and is chosen where a near-instant fixture is more important than the gap-filling or peel performance of a structural epoxy. Typical applications
An activator-assisted cyanoacrylate set of this kind is used for rapid fixturing tasks — tacking trim, bonding gaskets and edge strips, holding parts while a slower structural adhesive cures, and joinery or model and mock-up work on porous board materials. The non-drip viscosity makes it workable on vertical and overhead joints where a thin cyanoacrylate would run. Because cyanoacrylates give low peel and impact strength, it is normally specified for fixturing and light-duty joints rather than for load-bearing structural bonds.
