The 10-04-6386-1298 RF EMI gasket is supplied in Parker Chomerics CHO-SEAL 1298, a conductive elastomer that combines a fluorosilicone binder with a silver-plated aluminium filler. The binder gives the fluid and temperature behaviour of fluorosilicone, while the filler network carries the shielding current across a joint. CHO-SEAL 1298 was introduced specifically for corrosion performance, offering a substantial improvement over earlier silver-aluminium elastomers when used against aluminium housings — the case where galvanic attack normally limits gasket life. Manufacturer data gives shielding effectiveness of 90 dB from 100 MHz to 10 GHz. This part number is the 0.040 in (1.02 mm) thick sheet form, intended to be die-cut or water-jet cut to a required profile, so a single sheet specification can serve many gasket shapes across an enclosure programme.

Typical applications
Silver-aluminium fluorosilicone sheet is cut into gaskets for shielded enclosures, RF module lids, waveguide and connector flanges, and access panels on housings that must hold a shielded seal while being opened for maintenance. The corrosion-resistant filler system is chosen where the gasket bears directly on an aluminium mating surface and the assembly is exposed to humidity, salt air or condensation.
