About the 3M Scotch-Weld DP490 Black Epoxy Adhesive, 50
3M Scotch-Weld DP490 is a black, two-component epoxy structural adhesive supplied here in a 50 mL duo-pak cartridge for dispensing with 3M EPX applicators and mixing nozzles. It mixes at a 2:1 ratio by volume and has a work life of around 90 minutes, giving time to position parts before cure. The formulation is thixotropic and non-sag, so it can be applied to vertical and overhead joints without slumping, and 3M quotes temperature resistance up to 120 °C together with high shear and peel strength and good impact durability. DP490 is specified where a toughened, gap-filling epoxy bond is needed between metals, composites and many engineering plastics. Full cure and handling data are given in the 3M technical data sheet, which can be supplied with quotation.
