This is a black FKM (Viton) O-ring of circular cross section, size reference 2-015, with an internal diameter of 14.00 mm and a cross-section diameter of 1.78 mm. FKM is selected where fluid compatibility or temperature rules out a nitrile seal. The defining feature of this variant is the combination of a fine 1.78 mm section with a hard 90 Shore A compound. Hard, thin-section rings are used where clearance gaps must be sealed under pressure and a softer ring would be pushed into the gap, but the trade-off is that a 90 ShA compound needs a well-finished groove and adequate squeeze to seal reliably at low pressure. The declared service range is -15 °C to +180 °C, so cold-soak duties should be checked against the lower limit before selection. Typical applications
At 14 mm bore with a hard compound, this ring suits higher-pressure static seals on small hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, cartridge valve bodies, plug and port seals and compact accumulator or actuator hardware. It is a sensible replacement where a softer FKM ring in the same groove has shown nibbling or extrusion damage at the gland clearance. As with any 90 ShA seal, fitting should be done carefully over sharp edges and threads, since the stiffer material is less tolerant of stretching during assembly.
