About the EA 934NA Epoxy Adhesive, Loctite 2-Part
LOCTITE EA 934NA AERO is a two-component thixotropic epoxy paste adhesive supplied as separate A and B parts, mixed at 100:33 by weight. Being thixotropic, it holds its shape on a vertical surface and in a gap instead of slumping, which is what makes it usable for filling, fairing and shim work as well as for bonding. It cures at room temperature — Henkel gives handling strength at 8 hours at 25 °C, with alternatives of 20 minutes at 60 °C or 1 minute at 96 °C, and a normal full cure of 5 to 7 days at 25 °C or an accelerated schedule. Henkel states that the cured adhesive retains strength at 149 °C and above. The product is qualified against MMM-A-132 Type I Class 3 Form P Group 1 Revision B, PWA 457-1 Revision M and 199-05-002 Type II Class 2 Revision D. Typical applications
Because the paste is gap-filling and does not run, it is used for structural bonding, potting, filling and fairing, and for liquid shim between mating structural details where a machined shim would otherwise be required. The named qualifications place it in aerospace structural repair and build documentation, and the room-temperature cure schedule allows work on assemblies that cannot be put through an oven. Freezer storage and controlled thaw before mixing are part of the handling requirement for this product.
