About the T0050114999 Weller RTUS 060 K Knife Tip
The T0050114999 soldering tip knife is Weller’s RTUS 060 K L MS cartridge: a 6.0 mm knife or blade geometry in the MIL-spec (MS) version of the RTUS Ultra range. RTUS cartridges combine the heating element, sensor and tip in one body, which is what allows the quoted heat-up time of a few seconds and up to 150 W of power delivery into the joint through the Ultra handpiece. Each RTUS cartridge carries an integrated chip, so a WXsmart power unit can identify the tip, read back its identification number and hold locked process parameters against it — useful where soldering operations are documented for traceability. The 6.0 mm blade is the widest end of the knife family and is chosen for its contact area rather than for point accuracy. The cartridge is manufactured in Mexico and falls under HS heading 85159080.

Typical applications
A 6.0 mm blade holds a large reservoir of solder along its edge, which suits drag soldering across rows of fine-pitch leads and tinning long pads or bus bars in one pass. The width also helps when heat has to be pushed into ground planes, shield cans and heavy connector shells that starve a smaller tip. It is the wrong choice for isolated 0402-class work, where a conical or narrow chisel cartridge from the same range is more appropriate.
