About the T0050112199 Weller RTUS 004 C Conical Tip
The T0050112199 soldering tip conical is Weller’s RTUS 004 C MS cartridge, a 0.4 mm conical point in the MIL-spec (MS) version of the RTUS Ultra range, where the heater, temperature sensor and tip are combined in a single quick-change cartridge. A 0.4 mm cone is a point geometry: it concentrates contact into a very small area, which is what makes it usable on individual pads and single leads, but it also carries far less solder and thermal mass than the chisel cartridges in the same family. Operators generally pair it with a hotter working profile or accept slower joint formation on anything with a copper pour behind it. As with the rest of the RTUS range, the integrated chip lets a smart power unit identify the fitted cartridge and hold locked parameters, which supports documented, repeatable process control. Typical applications
A 0.4 mm point is used for fine-pitch rework: single leads on QFN and QFP packages, 0402 and smaller passives, and touch-up of individual joints identified at inspection. It is also the tip reached for when solder has to be placed in a confined pocket between taller components, or when working under a microscope where the operator is aiming at one pad at a time. Bulk tinning and heavy ground connections belong on a chisel or knife cartridge instead.
