About the WQ-48-02 Hinged Waterproof Enclosure Box
The WQ-48-02 waterproof enclosure box is a hinged sealed box from the Polycase WQ series, measuring 209 by 160 by 100 mm externally and 183 by 136 by 94 mm internally. The lid is hinged rather than loose, so it cannot be dropped or mislaid during service work, and a continuous gasket runs around the cover to give the watertight seal; the WQ series is rated to NEMA 4X and meets IP65 and IP66. Closure is by stainless steel latches, with a small padlock hasp for restricting access. The base is glass-fibre reinforced polycarbonate and carries 16 moulded mounting bosses, so printed circuit boards can be fixed directly into the box without a separate chassis, or an optional internal panel or DIN rail kit can be fitted. Cable entries are made by adding glands to suit the installation.

Typical applications
An internal envelope of 183 by 136 by 94 mm with 16 fixing bosses takes a medium single-board assembly plus a terminal block or a small power supply, which covers field junction boxes, sensor interface units, telemetry and control nodes, and battery or charger housings. The NEMA 4X and IP66 sealing suits outdoor and wash-down positions, and the hinged, padlockable lid is chosen where an enclosure has to be opened for routine checks but kept closed to casual access between visits.
