About the 2701 Loctite Threadlocker, 50 ml Bottle
LOCTITE 2701 is a green, high-strength, low-viscosity anaerobic threadlocking adhesive based on methacrylate chemistry. As a 2701 threadlocking adhesive it cures in the absence of air between metal threads, locking and sealing the fastener so that vibration cannot back it out, and closing the thread path against leaks and corrosion. The grade is formulated for high strength on chromated surfaces in particular and tolerates slight contamination by industrial oils, which matters where parts arrive lightly oiled rather than solvent-cleaned. Viscosity measured on a Brookfield RVT at 25 °C is 500 to 900 mPa·s, low enough to wick into engaged threads, and fixture time is 4 to 25 minutes. It is recommended for use with steel, stainless steel and brass. The adhesive fluoresces under UV light, which allows applied product to be verified during inspection — a useful property where threadlocker application must be evidenced. Supplied in a 50 ml bottle.

Typical applications
A high-strength, low-viscosity grade is chosen for fasteners that are not intended to be removed in routine service — studs, permanently set adjusters, and threaded joints on rotating or vibrating assemblies. The thin viscosity lets it penetrate pre-assembled threads, and the sealing action allows tapping through a through-hole without a separate sealant. Because the bond is high strength, dismantling generally requires localised heat, so it should not be specified for fasteners a maintainer needs to break out with hand tools.
