About the 495 Loctite Cyanoacrylate Adhesive, 20
LOCTITE 495 is a one-part, general-purpose instant adhesive supplied here in a 20 g pack. As a 495 cyanoacrylate adhesive it is transparent and colourless, with a low viscosity that lets it flow into close-fitting joints, and it offers fast fixturing — parts are held within seconds rather than clamped for minutes. It bonds a wide range of materials including plastics, rubbers and metals, which is what makes a general-purpose grade useful on a repair bench where the next job is rarely the same combination of substrates. Polyolefins, which cyanoacrylates do not normally wet well, can also be bonded when the surfaces are first treated with LOCTITE SF 770 primer. Being low viscosity, this grade suits tight-fitting parts rather than gap filling; where a joint has a visible gap, a thicker or gel grade is the better selection.

Typical applications
Low-viscosity general-purpose cyanoacrylate is bench stock for small-part assembly and quick repair: bonding elastomer seals and grommets, tacking small plastic components before a mechanical fastening is made, retaining trim and badges, and repairing rubber items where a close fit can be achieved. The 20 g pack is a working quantity for a maintenance or assembly bench rather than production dispensing. Surfaces should be clean and closely mated to get the benefit of the fast fixture.
