About the 3145 RTV Dowsil Adhesive Sealant, Grey 90ml
DOWSIL 3145 is a one-component 3145 RTV silicone sealant and adhesive that cures at room temperature on exposure to atmospheric moisture. It is non-flowing, so it stays where it is applied on vertical surfaces and overhead joints rather than slumping before cure. The cured elastomer is notable for high elongation — 670 per cent — combined with a tensile strength of 1,035 psi and a hardness of 51 Shore A, giving a joint that accommodates movement and thermal cycling without cracking. Dielectric strength is 500 V/mil, which is why the material is used in electrical and electronic assembly rather than as a general construction sealant. It meets MIL-A-46146 Rev. B, Amend. 3, Group III. Tack-free time is approximately 78 minutes and full cure takes 48 hours at room temperature. Specific gravity is 1.12 at 25 °C, and the material is rated for service to 200 °C. Supplied in grey in a 90 ml tube.

Typical applications
The combination of high dielectric strength, non-flow consistency and a military specification listing puts this grade in electronic and electrical assembly work: sealing openings in modules and housings, bonding and staking components on printed wiring boards, adding mechanical stability to individual parts, and sealing around wires and electrical leads. The 90 ml tube is a hand-applied quantity suited to rework, staking and small-batch assembly rather than automated dispensing. Its 670 per cent elongation makes it appropriate where the sealed joint sees vibration or thermal movement.
