About the RM-5800-2J-XM SMART RADIO: 5.8 GHZ XTREME
The RM-5800-2J-XM is an embedded Smart Radio module from Doodle Labs’ Xtreme range, built on the company’s patented Mesh Rider wireless technology for resilient, low-latency mesh networking. It operates in the 5.725–5.875 GHz band and uses a TDD access scheme with carrier-sense multiple access and collision avoidance rather than standard IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi framing. The manufacturer’s datasheet specifies throughput up to 100 Mbps in a 40 MHz channel, scaling through 20, 10, 5 and 3 MHz channel widths, with over-the-air encryption at 128-bit AES at full throughput or 256-bit AES (FIPS 140-2 Level 2 compliant) at reduced rate. Interfaces include two Ethernet ports, two USB ports and a UART, and the datasheet states a recommended maximum operating range of more than 20 km under suitable link conditions.
