Description
Terminal Block, 20x #8-32 and 2x 1/4 in Studs — BOLTON SKU 53463.
About the Terminal Block 20x #8-32 and 2x
This is a stud-type terminal block: a mounting base carrying threaded studs to which ring or fork terminals are landed and clamped with a nut and washer, rather than the screw-clamp or spring-cage arrangement used on DIN-rail terminals. The terminal block 20x 8×32 and 2x 1/4 in configuration means 22 stud positions in total, split between 20 smaller studs in the #8-32 UNC size — a unified coarse thread with a nominal major diameter of 0.164 inch, roughly 4.2 mm — and 2 larger 1/4 inch studs. That mix is the defining feature: the 20 small studs are sized for signal, control and light power circuits landed on small ring terminals, while the pair of 1/4 inch studs accept the substantially larger lugs used for main feed, return or bonding conductors. Because ring terminals cannot be pulled off a stud without removing the nut, this style of termination is retained under vibration.

Typical applications
A block combining twenty small studs with two heavy studs is used as a consolidated distribution and interface point inside a control panel, junction box or vehicle and airframe electrical bay — the #8-32 positions taking instrumentation, control and lighting circuits, and the 1/4 inch positions taking the main positive feed and the common return or earth bond. Stud terminations are favoured in mobile and airborne installations where screw-clamp terminals would be at risk of loosening.
