About the RNF-100-1/4-0 Heat Shrink Tubing
RNF-100 is TE Connectivity Raychem’s flexible, flame-retarded polyolefin heat-shrinkable tubing with a nominal 2:1 shrink ratio, supplied as a single-wall product. It is rated for continuous operation from -55 to +135 degrees Celsius; recovery begins at a minimum shrink temperature of 95 degrees Celsius and full recovery is reached at 121 degrees Celsius. The material is chosen for mechanical protection — abrasion, cutting and strain relief — together with thermal stability and fluid resistance, and its flame-retardant formulation is why it is specified so widely for industrial and military harnesses. In this part number the 1/4 is the nominal as-supplied inside diameter in inches, recovering to approximately half that dimension at the 2:1 ratio, and the trailing 0 is the colour code for black.

Typical applications
General-purpose heat-shrink of this grade is used for insulating and strain-relieving wire terminations and splices, jacketing wire bundles and light harnesses, colour coding and identification, and protecting components against abrasion. It is a routine consumable in avionics and UAV harness build, electrical panel work and MRO repair benches. Select the supplied size so that the recovered diameter grips the substrate without over-shrinking.
