Pattex SL212 Clear Silicone Sealant — BOLTON SKU 50275.
About the Pattex SL212 Clear Silicone Sealant
This is a clear silicone sealant supplied under the Pattex brand as reference SL212 and catalogued as Pattex SL212 Clear industrial adhesive. Silicone sealants cure by reaction with atmospheric moisture, changing from a gunnable paste into a flexible rubber over a period that depends on temperature, humidity and the thickness of the bead. Once cured, the sealant stays elastic instead of setting rigid, and that elasticity is what allows it to accommodate movement between the two surfaces it joins without cracking or releasing at the edge of the bead. A clear formulation is chosen where the joint should be visually unobtrusive — against glass, light-coloured surfaces, or mixed materials where a coloured bead would be conspicuous. The precise cure chemistry, service temperature range, movement capability and the substrates the product is recommended for are confirmed against the manufacturer’s technical data sheet at quotation.

Typical applications
Clear silicone sealants are used to seal glazing and panel joints, to weatherproof penetrations where a cable or pipe passes through a surface, and to form a flexible seal between dissimilar materials that expand at different rates. The clear grade suits joints that remain visible in the finished installation. Where the joint has to be overpainted or carries structural load, a different sealant chemistry is normally specified instead.
