About the Loctite 542 50 mL
LOCTITE 542 is a single-component anaerobic thread sealant from Henkel, designed for locking and sealing fine-threaded metal fittings such as those used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, supplied here in a 50 ml pack. The product cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal threads, forming a medium-strength bond that seals against leakage and resists vibration loosening while still allowing disassembly with hand tools. Henkel’s technical data lists a −55 °C to +150 °C operating temperature range, thixotropic behaviour that limits migration after application, and resistance to oils, fuels, coolants and hydraulic fluids. Because it contains no fillers or particles, it does not contaminate fluid systems or clog fine filters — a key reason it is preferred over tape or paste sealants in hydraulic circuits. Assemblies seal to moderate pressures almost immediately, with full cure and maximum resistance developing over 24 hours.
