About the 3M VHB Tape 5952 Black 12
A VHB tape is a double-sided acrylic foam tape from 3M, adhesive on both faces, used to form a continuous bonded joint instead of a mechanically fastened one. This 3M VHB Tape industrial adhesive carries the designation 5952 and is supplied black, 12 mm wide, on a 33 m roll with a release liner. At 12 mm this is one of the narrower standard widths, which matters where the available flange or frame land is limited and a wider tape would overhang the joint or become visible at the edge. Black is the practical choice where the bond line is exposed against dark frames, glazing beads or anodised sections. The 5952 reference identifies a specific VHB grade and should be quoted in full: colour and width do not define the product, and other VHB grades supplied black in the same width are not equivalents. Ask for the 3M datasheet for 5952 where the joint is engineered.

Typical applications
Narrow 12 mm bond lines are used for slim bezels, trim strips, badges, small brackets and edge details where there is little room behind the part. The black colour keeps the joint visually discreet on dark assemblies and at exposed edges. A 33 m roll covers a large number of short bonds, which suits bench and rework use where many small parts are bonded from a single roll.
