About the Loctite 641 Retaining Compound 50 ml
A retaining compound is a liquid anaerobic adhesive applied between close-fitting cylindrical metal parts, where it cures in the absence of air and in contact with metal to fill the clearance and lock the assembly. Because the cured compound occupies the whole annular gap, the joint transmits load over the full engaged surface instead of relying on the interference of a press fit alone. The Loctite 641 Retaining industrial adhesive is supplied in a 50 ml bottle, a common workshop and maintenance size that suits point-of-use application rather than production dispensing. The 641 grade designation should be quoted in full on any reorder: Loctite’s retaining range covers several grades that differ in strength, viscosity and disassembly behaviour, and they are not interchangeable on a drawing. Typical applications
Retaining compounds are used to secure bearings, bushes, sleeves, gears, pulleys and rotors onto shafts and into housings, and to restore a serviceable fit on worn cylindrical seats.
