About the Loctite 270 Threadlocking Adhesive, 50 m Industrial
LOCTITE 270 is a high-strength anaerobic threadlocker that cures when confined without air between close-fitting metal surfaces, filling the clearance between engaged threads so that shock and vibration cannot work the fastener loose and fluids cannot leak along the thread path. It is intended for heavy-duty applications — studs set into motor housings, nuts run onto studs in pump housings and comparable fasteners where the highest locking strength is wanted. The grade suits all metals including passive substrates, and tolerates light coatings of rust-preventative oil and minor contamination without prior cleaning. The specified operating temperature range is -55 °C to +180 °C, and full cure is reached in 24 hours. Because the bond is deliberately strong, disassembly is carried out by heating the joint to about 300 °C and removing the fastener while it is still hot. Supplied in a 50 ml bottle.

Typical applications
A high-strength grade is chosen where the fastener is not intended to be disturbed in normal service: studs, dowels, motor and pump housing fixings, gearbox and pedestal mountings, and any joint subject to sustained vibration. The +180 °C rating extends its use to hot assemblies near motors, drives and exhaust-adjacent brackets. Where the joint must be broken with hand tools during routine maintenance, a lower-strength threadlocker should be specified instead.
