Description
M22759/16-6-2 CONDUCTOR COPPER 6AWG RED — BOLTON SKU 55289.
About the M22759/16-6-2 Aerospace Wire
M22759/16, now issued as SAE AS22759/16, defines a single-conductor unshielded airframe wire with a stranded tin-plated copper conductor and extruded cross-linked ETFE insulation. The slash sheet is rated at 600 V and 150 degrees C, with a service range from -55 degrees C to +150 degrees C. ETFE is selected in aerospace harnessing because it gives a thin, dimensionally consistent wall with good mechanical toughness together with strong chemical and radiation resistance, which keeps harness bundle diameter and mass down without sacrificing cut-through performance. In this part number the first suffix identifies the conductor size, here 6 AWG, and the second identifies the insulation colour code; this item is red, which is consistent with colour code 2. Tin plating suits the 150 degrees C rating of this slash sheet.

Typical applications
AS22759/16 wire is a mainstream airframe and equipment hook-up wire used on aircraft, rotorcraft and UAV power and signal runs, in avionics and equipment racks, and in ground support and vehicle systems built to aerospace practice. At 6 AWG it is used for power feeders, battery and generator runs and heavy earth returns. Harness shops and MRO workshops buy it by the reel for loom manufacture and repair.
