About the M22759/18-22-0 Aerospace Wire
This is the black variant of slash sheet M22759/18, held today as SAE AS22759/18: tin-plated copper conductor, thin-wall extruded ETFE insulation, 600 V, −55 °C to +150 °C. The trailing fields carry conductor size and colour, so 22 is 22 AWG and 0 is black, the colour digit following MIL-STD-681. The 22 AWG build is 19/34 stranded with a conductor diameter of 0.030 in and a finished insulated outside diameter of 0.041–0.045 in; the thin wall is what separates the /18 sheet from the normal-wall /16 and is why it is chosen where bundle diameter and harness weight matter. Black is the highest-volume colour in most harness shops because it carries the return and reference runs that every circuit needs, so it is usually held as continuous stock rather than ordered per drawing. Supplied from spool and cut to the ordered length.

Typical applications
Black wire in this gauge is drawn on for ground, return and reference runs throughout airframe and avionics looms, and for the bulk of general signal and control wiring in unmanned platforms, instrumentation racks and ground support equipment. Because it is the default colour for non-identified runs, it is the reel most often consumed during harness repair, modification and rework in an MRO shop. Shield terminators, crimp contacts and printed identification sleeving are ordered separately to finish an assembly.
