About the 3M 33629 Pneumatic Random Orbital Sander
The 3M 33629 Pneumatic power tool is a random orbital sander driven by compressed air and built around a 150 mm (6 in) pad with an 8 mm (5/16 in) orbit. Random orbital action combines rotation with an eccentric orbit so that no abrasive grain follows the same path twice, which suppresses the swirl patterns left by fixed-rotation sanders. The 8 mm orbit is the most aggressive offered in this family: it is matched to coarser abrasive grades for rapid stock removal, levelling of filler and removal of built-up coatings, rather than for fine finishing. The tool is vacuum-ready, with a multi-hole back-up pad and shroud that draw dust through the abrasive and into a central vacuum hose connection for use with a 3M dust extractor. A variable speed control, quick-connect push-over hose adaptor, large operating levers and soft-grip material are provided.
