About the 3145 Industrial Adhesive
DOWSIL 3145 RTV is a one-component, room-temperature-curing polydimethylsiloxane adhesive/sealant supplied here in the clear grade and a 90 ml tube. It is non-flowing, so it stays where it is applied on vertical and overhead surfaces, and it cures to a flexible elastomer with high tensile strength and elongation. The product is certified to MIL-A-46146 Revision B Amendment 3, Type I, Group II; MIL-A-46146 covers non-corrosive RTV silicone adhesive-sealants intended for use with sensitive metals and equipment, which is why this family is specified for electronics rather than general-purpose acetoxy silicones. Published properties for the clear grade include a Shore A durometer of 47, tensile strength of 940 psi, elongation of 680 per cent and dielectric strength of 500 V/mil. Typical use is bonding components on printed wiring boards and sealing housings, modules, wires and electrical leads.
