About the RNF-100-1/2-X Heat Shrink Tubing
RNF-100-1/2-X is a size and colour variant of RNF-100, TE Connectivity’s (Raychem) general-purpose flame-retarded polyolefin heat-shrink tubing. RNF-100 is a single-wall tubing with a 2:1 shrink ratio, rated 600 V with an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +135 °C, and the family meets SAE AMS-DTL-23053/5. In this part number, 1/2 denotes the 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) as-supplied inside diameter — recovering towards half that dimension when heated above the recovery temperature — and the X suffix corresponds to the clear (transparent) colour stated in the product title. Flexible polyolefin tubing of this class is used to insulate joints and terminations, provide strain relief, jacket splices and mechanically protect wire and cable, with good resistance to common fluids and abrasion. Clear tubing is chosen where printed identification sleeves, markers or the finished joint itself must remain visible after recovery.
