Description
HG905RD-RSP 900 MHz 5dBi Rubber Duck Antenna — BOLTON SKU 57109.
About the HG905RD-RSP 900 MHz Antenna, 5 dBi Rubber
The HG905RD-RSP is an L-com omnidirectional “rubber duck” antenna for the 900 MHz band, built on a coaxial sleeve design and rated at 5 dBi gain with vertical polarisation. It presents a 50 Ω impedance with a maximum input VSWR of 2.5:1 and terminates in a reverse-polarity SMA plug on a tilt-and-swivel joint, so the radiating element can be set vertical, at a right angle to the equipment, or anywhere in between while the radio stays fixed. Overall length is 15.4 in (approximately 391 mm). The flexible sleeve construction is what distinguishes this style from a rigid whip: it tolerates being knocked and bent in handling, which is why it is the default antenna supplied with portable and field-deployed 900 MHz ISM-band equipment. The reverse-polarity SMA interface must be matched to an RP-SMA jack on the radio; a standard SMA port will not mate correctly.

Typical applications
900 MHz rubber duck antennas are fitted to telemetry and data radios on unmanned aircraft ground stations, portable data terminals, remote instrumentation and ISM-band links generally. They suit field and vehicle-mounted use where the antenna must fold out of the way for transport and survive rough handling. Local spectrum regulations determine which 900 MHz sub-band may be operated in a given country and should be checked before deployment.
