Description

R1224S-28 Regulator, Plane Power Powerflex regulator — BOLTON SKU 59202.

About the R1224S-28 Powerflex Regulator, Plane Power

The R1224 is a solid-state aircraft voltage regulator produced under the Plane-Power brand of Hartzell Engine Technologies and supplied as an FAA-PMA approved part. The R1224S-28 variant is the 28 V configuration in the eight-mounting-hole housing. Published product data for the series lists over-voltage protection, field short (over-current) protection and reverse-battery protection, together with precision load sharing for twin-engine installations and an alternator-inoperative lamp output. The installation instructions describe the R1224 as field-configurable for 14 V or 28 V operation by setting two internal jumpers. The regulator is offered by the manufacturer as a replacement for a number of legacy regulator designs, and the applicable model list is defined by the PMA approval rather than by general interchangeability. Airworthiness paperwork should be specified at RFQ stage.

Typical applications

Regulators of this type are fitted in general aviation and rotary-wing electrical systems to control alternator field current and hold bus voltage within limits. They are commonly held by maintenance organisations for scheduled replacement, unserviceable-unit exchange and electrical-system upgrade work. Applicability to a given aircraft is determined by the approved model list, so the airframe type and existing regulator part number should accompany the enquiry.
