About the 170-10600 Braided Sleeve, 6 mm Polyester Black
HEGP06 is HellermannTyton’s standard polyester braided sleeving in the 6 mm nominal size. The sleeving is braided from polyester (PET) monofilament, giving an open-weave structure that expands over connectors and branch-outs and then closes back down onto the bundle. The published bundle-diameter range for the 6 mm size is 4 mm to 11 mm. The material is rated for continuous service from -50 °C to +150 °C, with a melting point of +250 °C, and carries UL 94 V2 and FMVSS 302 flammability classifications. It is halogen-free and RoHS compliant, and the manufacturer additionally lists it against ECE R-118-03 Annex 6 and Annex 8 and EN 45545-2. HellermannTyton describes the product as highly flexible with high abrasion resistance and very high surface coverage. Cut ends should be sealed with a hot cutting tool to prevent the braid from fraying. The -BK suffix denotes the black colour variant.

Typical applications
Expandable polyester braided sleeving of this type is used to bundle and protect wiring looms against abrasion in aerospace harnessing, vehicle and UAV integration work, and panel building. The open braid allows breakouts without cutting the sleeve, which suits harness rework and MRO workshop repairs. It is also applied to hose and cable runs where chafe protection is required alongside flexibility.
