Description
CT1206K50G Metal Oxide Varistor 120pF 1A, Clamping 135V, Varistor 82V, 1206 (3216M) — BOLTON SKU 67793.
About the CT1206K50G Varistor, 82V, 1206 Chip
The CT1206K50G metal oxide varistor is an EPCOS multilayer ceramic chip varistor from the CT series of ceramic transient voltage suppressors, supplied in the 1206 case size (3216 metric, nominally 3.2 mm × 1.6 mm). Its varistor voltage is 82 V, measured at the standard 1 mA point, and its clamping voltage is 135 V at 1 A. Maximum continuous operating voltage is 50 V AC rms or 65 V DC, and maximum surge current is 100 A with an energy rating of 0.6 J. Typical capacitance is 120 pF, which is the figure to check when the part sits across a signal line rather than a supply rail. Terminations are nickel-barrier for solderability and leach resistance. CT is the EPCOS designation for its ceramic transient voltage suppressor chip range.

Typical applications
With a 50 V AC / 65 V DC continuous rating, this variant is aimed at low-voltage board-level protection rather than mains circuits — suppressing switching and inductive transients on DC supply rails, relay and solenoid drive lines, and interface pins on control boards. The 120 pF capacitance is low enough for many slower data and control lines but should be checked against the signal edge rate. Surface-mount 1206 construction suits high-density boards where a leaded disc varistor will not fit.
