Description
Heat-Shrinkable Tubing 2:1 Thin Wall 1/4 inch 125 °C Clear — BOLTON SKU 53894.
About the Heat-Shrinkable Tubing 2:1 Thin Wall
Catalogued as tubing heat-shrinakble 2 1 thin wall, this is heat-shrinkable sleeving with a 2:1 shrink ratio, supplied at a nominal 1/4 inch (about 6.4 mm) inside diameter and recovering to roughly half that — about 1/8 inch, or 3.2 mm — when heated. The 2:1 ratio means one size covers a usefully wide range of underlying diameters, so the sleeve can be slid over a connector or a splice at its expanded size and then shrunk down onto the smaller cable behind it. The stated rating of 125 °C is the maximum continuous operating temperature; thin-wall sleeving of this class is normally cross-linked polyolefin and typically begins to recover at around 100 °C. The clear grade is specified where the joint or the wire marking underneath must remain visible after the sleeve is shrunk down.

Typical applications
At a 6.4 mm supplied size this sleeving covers single conductors, small multi-core cables, soldered joints and crimp barrels, and provides strain relief where a wire leaves a terminal. The clear grade is chosen for inspectable work — over a soldered joint that must remain visible, or over a printed wire marker that has to stay readable after sleeving. Confirm the intended cable outside diameter falls between the recovered and supplied sizes before ordering.
