About the AS616-08SN Autosport 8-Socket Plug Kit
The AS616-08SN Autosport plug kit is a complete mating set from the TE Connectivity DEUTSCH Autosport AS series. The kit comprises a style 6 free plug in shell size 16 with an eight-way insert arrangement, eight size 16 socket contacts (38943-16) and a contact extractor tool. The shell is aluminium alloy with a black zinc finish; the insert is a hard dielectric with silicone sealing, giving a sealed wire-to-wire interface with rear insertion and rear release of contacts. Keying is to the N (red) keyway, so a plug will only mate with a correspondingly keyed receptacle — useful where several identical shell sizes sit adjacent on the same loom. The AS series was developed as a lighter, more compact alternative to standard military circular connectors while retaining crimp-and-release contact handling, which allows a harness to be reworked in the field without cutting the connector off.
