About the 1108-4-GW24 Helashrink 90 Degree Boot, Ribbed
The 1108-4-GW24 heat-shrink boot is a moulded right-angle transition from HellermannTyton’s Helashrink 1100 series. It is formed in cross-linked polyolefin (PO-X) with a W24 adhesive lining, so on recovery the boot both shrinks down and bonds to the cable jacket and the connector adaptor, sealing the transition against moisture ingress. The internal rib engages a circular grooved backshell adaptor, which is what converts the boot from a cover into a working strain-relief member: cable loads are taken into the adaptor rather than into the connector contacts. Inside diameter is 16.5 mm as supplied and 7.9 mm fully recovered, suiting cable outer diameters of 9.62 to 14.78 mm, with legs of approximately 20.1 mm and a 1 mm wall. The material operates from −75 °C to +150 °C, recovers from +135 °C, and has a dielectric strength of 14 kV/mm. Colour is black; shelf life is five years from manufacture.

Typical applications
A ribbed 90-degree boot is fitted where a harness must leave a circular connector at a right angle and the break-out has to be sealed and mechanically supported — bulkhead and panel connectors in vehicle, airframe and shelter installations, and any run where cable depth behind the connector is limited. Matched to cables of 9.62 to 14.78 mm outside diameter and used with a grooved adaptor, it protects the termination from pull-out, flexing and moisture at the point where a harness is most exposed. The wide temperature range suits externally routed and engine-bay cabling.
