About the Thermo-Tec 13500 Heat Barrier, 12in x 12in
The Thermo-Tec 13500 12″ X 12″ Adhesive backed heat barrier is a self-adhesive radiant-heat protection sheet made from woven silica with a flexible aluminized finish. Thermo-Tec’s specification sheet rates the reflective face for radiant heat up to 2000 °F (about 1093 °C), while the adhesive-backed side handles direct, continuous contact temperatures up to 300 °F (about 149 °C). The material is approximately 0.035 in (0.89 mm) thick at a fabric weight of 20 oz/yd², and this part is supplied as a 12 in × 12 in sheet that can be cut to shape and applied directly to clean surfaces — no clamps or mechanical fixing required. The aluminized surface works by reflecting radiant heat away from the protected component rather than absorbing it, so it stays effective without bulk insulation thickness.

Typical applications
This sheet format is cut to protect wiring harnesses, fuel and fluid lines, battery boxes, electronic modules and painted or plastic components installed near exhausts, engines or other radiant-heat sources. The peel-and-stick backing makes it practical for retrofit heat shielding in vehicle, generator and equipment compartments.
