About the W3S Wedgelock, 3 Way Plug, DT Series
The W3S Wedgelock Plug 3 Way Female is the wedgelock for the 3-way plug (female/socket) housing of the DT connector series, originally a Deutsch design and today produced under TE Connectivity’s DEUTSCH brand. A wedgelock is the secondary locking piece of a DT connector: after the socket contacts are inserted into the plug housing, the orange wedge snaps into place, positioning the contacts and holding them in precise alignment with their mating pins so the connection stays true under vibration. It is moulded in PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), a thermoplastic with good resistance to heat, chemicals and moisture, and is colour-coded orange as standard for DT plug wedges. The part is RoHS compliant and can be extracted for contact servicing with a removal pick. It fits 3-position DT plugs such as the DT06-3S.

Typical applications
DT-series connectors with W3S wedgelocks are used in vehicle, off-highway, marine and unmanned-platform wiring harnesses exposed to vibration, moisture and temperature swings. The wedge is stocked both for new harness assembly and as a service part, since it must be removed and is sometimes replaced when contacts are extracted.
