About the B-WIT 100 Injection Transformer, Wideband
The B-WIT 100, order reference P0005758, is an injection transformer made by OMICRON Lab for control loop and frequency response measurement. Its job is to couple a swept disturbance signal from an analyser into a live feedback loop while keeping the analyser galvanically isolated from the circuit under test, so the loop’s own DC operating point is not disturbed. OMICRON Lab gives a usable frequency range of 1 Hz to 10 MHz, with a typical -3 dB range of 7 Hz to 5 MHz, a 1:1 primary to secondary turns ratio, insertion loss below 0.5 dB at 10 kHz and a typical capacitance of 120 pF at 1 kHz. It is rated for safe isolation at 600 V CAT II. The wide span means the same B-WIT 100 wideband injection transformer can be used on slow loops with low bandwidth and on fast loops alike.

Typical applications
An injection transformer of this class is used with a vector network analyser or frequency response analyser to measure control loop gain and phase margin on switch-mode power supplies, DC-DC converters, linear regulators and motor drive loops. The same setup is used for power supply rejection ratio and output impedance measurements. Its 1 Hz lower limit matters for slow loops such as power factor correction stages, while the 10 MHz upper limit covers fast point-of-load converters.
