Description

Novative Auto-Link-SPE-M 100BASE-T1 Media Converter — BOLTON SKU 72980.

About the Auto-Link-SPE-M 100BASE-T1 Converter

The Auto-Link-SPE-M converts between 100BASE-T1 single-pair Ethernet, presented on a Molex Mini50 connector, and standard 100BASE-TX Ethernet on RJ45. That lets a test PC, switch or analyser with an ordinary RJ45 port talk to an ECU or sensor that only speaks single-pair Ethernet. A DIP switch selects the master or slave PHY role, and automatic master/slave detection is also supported. Link and activity LEDs are provided for both network ports, and a mini-USB port is used for firmware update and configuration. The unit operates from 5 to 28 V DC on the main connector, or 5 V over USB, drawing 50 mA at 12 V. It is housed in a robust aluminium enclosure measuring 70 × 75 × 35 mm and is stated as suitable for in-vehicle use. Supply includes an 8-pole Mini50 connector housing and five CTX50 terminals — three for AWG24 and two for AWG22.

Supplied with 8-pole Mini50 connector housing, 5 × CTX50 terminals (3 × AWG24, 2 × AWG22)

Typical applications

Single-pair Ethernet is used where weight and harness count matter, so a converter of this kind sits mainly in vehicle and platform integration work: bench and in-vehicle bring-up of ECUs, camera and sensor nodes, protocol capture during integration testing, and rig connections into standard laboratory network equipment. The wide 5–28 V input and aluminium housing allow it to be powered from the vehicle supply and left installed during a test campaign. The selectable master/slave role matters because a 100BASE-T1 link requires one end of each pair to take each role.
